December Event Info

Shana will be heading up the WINGS December meeting.
Here is all the info... hope you can make it!

When: Friday, December 11th - 6:30pm
Where: Shana's House (see Shana for directions)
What: Dinner, Service Project & Dirty Santa!

Please bring the following:
  • $10 - This will cover the cost of pizza, as well as our service project. For the service project, we are taking up money for Jonah and Jessica Dawes. The money will go towards helping out with their Christmas this year.
  • If you want to participate in Dirty Santa, please bring a small gift. No more than $15 value.
  • Other goodies to munch on... sweets and treats!
  • Swimsuit - if you would like to get in the hot tub! :)

You are welcome to donate more to the service project if you would like to. Playing "Dirty Santa" is optional, but the more that can play the more fun (and interesting) it will be. Looking forward to an evening of fun and fellowship with you girls!

Please let Shana know if you can attend so she will know how much pizza to order, or leave a comment below with your rsvp. If you have any other questions, please see Shana.

Mark your calendar!

WINGS MEMBERS:
Our November event will be held after evening services on Sunday, November 8th. This will be a very informal meeting, and an opportunity to fellowship with one another.
Dinner will be "on your own" - either bring your own, or run pick something up and bring back to the fellowship hall. We can work out riding arrangements for those that will need transportation. Mentors please check with your Mentees about this as well.
I hope everyone can stay and join in on the fun! We will also be doing a small service project.
If you have any questions just let me know! - Teale

we're going green!

You voted and GREEN it is! (This color is probably a better representation of the actual shirt color... in case you were wondering if we were going to glow in the dark!)

front "pocket" design
design on back-
I used the verse that it seemed everyone was in agreement with, Ecclesiastes 4:9-10. We will be getting the Anvil brand shirts like our shirts from last year.
The shirts have been ordered and should be in our hands in about a week. They are $10. I will be taking up money Wednesday night, and plan to pick up (and pay) for the shirts by the weekend. We are getting Barbara team shirt as well. If you would like to chip in a little extra to help cover the cost of Barbara's shirt you are welcome to do so. Looking forward to next Saturday! -Teale

Last Day to Join the Team

Today is the last day to officially join the WINGS team in the Race for the Cure 5k . I hope that you will sign up if you haven't already. It will certainly be loads of fun! Remember, you don't have to be a runner to participate. I dare say that most of us will be walking! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. - Candace

Info and Input

YAY! Glad to have our blog up and running.

Just a reminder about the upcoming months:

October - Candace, Race for the Cure
November - Teale
December - Shana
January - Erin
February - Jennifer

If you would like to select a month now, make a comment below and we will add you to the list.

Based on your input at our last event, we will swap mentors twice a year...in February and August. This may fluctuate slightly depending on scheduling, but we will try to keep it as close as possible.

Thanks, Teale, for the great tee design. It looks AWESOME! And thanks to Candace for planning our fabulous October event. We appreciate your organization and positive attitude. Can't wait to see what you gals will come up with for the rest of 2009.

On a side note, don't you all agree that we need to make a special effort to bring in visitors for our gospel meeting? Don't forget to pick up your 30 cards. Give them to everyone you know and those you DON'T KNOW YET!! :) This could also be an opportunity for you to get together with your mentor/mentee to hand out cards in your neighborhood. If anyone wants to try to do something collectively to help the effort, we can try to make that happen! ~~Jenn

Shirts!

We are are planning to go ahead and get our 2009-2010 group shirts so we will have them to wear as a "team shirt" at Race for the Cure October 10th. The option to buy a shirt is open to anyone else wanting to join our team at Race for the Cure also.

Once the design is finalized we will get a formal quote, but we are planning for less than $10 per shirt. I am going to ask if we can get the same brand of t-shirt we did before, it was a good weight and very soft.

We had talked about possibly doing the shirts in pink (in honor of RFTC), but I also am showing an option in green too. Please vote on your preferred shirt color - the poll is on the right. We will go with the color that gets the majority of votes.

What do you think about adding a Bible verse? If you have a suggestion please leave a comment below... I did a few searches on sisterhood, friendship, wings, etc. but wasn't sure - I need input on that!

----PINK OPTION----

(design for front-pocket area)

(design for back)

-----GREEN OPTION----

(design for front-pocket area)

(design for back)

The idea for the "W" on the back (if they can do it this way) is to make it very subtle, maybe even how they pixilated the photo effect like we did last year. I want it to be faint and in the background so the text reads well on top of it.

If you haven't joined our WINGS Facebook group, you can find it here. Thanks, girls! -T
